Background
The Macmillan Counselling & Psychology Service at Queen Alexandra Hospital, worked with Talking Change Talking Therapies to improve psychological support for people affected by cancer in Portsmouth.
Using a methodology known as Experience Based Co-Design the project sought the views of people who have accessed either service, as well as staff working within each service. Alongside understanding people’s experiences of the services, the project team wanted to hear people’s ideas as to how the two services could be improved and work more effectively together.
Following on from hearing people’s experiences and ideas, the project team brought together, patients and staff to identify the main problems, and co-design solutions.
Method
In the video below, which was shared at the start of the project, the team describe the importance of co-design and what they hope this project will achieve.
