How accessible this website is

We know that some parts of this website are not fully accessible. However, recent accessibility testing found that the majority of the website meets the requirements of WCAG 2.2 AA. Known issues include:

  • some PDF documents in the resource library may not be fully accessible to screen readers.
  • some content may have reading order issues that can affect screen reader navigation
  • colour contrast ratios

Technical information about this website’s accessibility

Wessex Cancer Alliance is committed to making its website accessible in accordance with the Public Sector Bodies (Websites and Mobile Applications) (No. 2) Accessibility Regulations 2018.

This website is partially compliant with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) version 2.2 AA standard due to the non-compliances and exemptions listed below.

Non-accessible content

The content listed below is non-accessible for the following reasons;

Some text and links within the website header and footer do not currently meet the minimum colour contrast requirements specified in WCAG 2.2 Success Criterion 1.4.3 (Contrast (Minimum)).

Some images on the website do not currently have appropriate alternative text. This means screen reader users may not be able to access the information conveyed by those images. This fails WCAG 2.2 Success Criterion 1.1.1 (Non-text Content). We are reviewing website content and adding alternative text where required.

Some PDF documents available through our resource library are not fully accessible. These documents may not be structured correctly for screen readers, may lack appropriate headings or document tags, or may not provide sufficient alternative text for images and charts. This may affect users who rely on assistive technologies. This may fail WCAG 2.2 Success Criterion 1.3.1 (Info and Relationships) and related criteria.

We are actively working to address these issues and improve accessibility across the website.

Disproportionate burden

No disproportionate burden exemptions have been claimed.

Content not within the scope of the accessibility regulations

Some older PDF documents published before 23 September 2018 may not be fully accessible where exempt under the accessibility regulations.
