Supporting the Cancer Workforce: Working in collaboration with NHSE Workforce, Transformation and Education Teams (previously Health Education England SE Cancer and Diagnostics Programme)
We continue to work collaboratively with our NHSE Workforce, Transformation and Education colleagues to support the development of our cancer and diagnostics workforce.
We have secured over £1m of funding for locally designed workforce projects alongside nationally allocated grants for upskilling priority workforce groups in cancer and diagnostics services. Over the last three years HEE national funding allocation through the Health Education England SE Cancer and Diagnostics Programme has allowed us to support:
- development of aspiring and existing Cancer Clinical Nurse Specialists
- development of the SACT (Systemic Anti-cancer Therapies) nursing workforce
- development of the Pathway Navigator workforce
- Advanced Communications Skills training for senior health care professionals supporting people with cancer
NB: Funding opportunities for the diagnostics workforce and development of the Advanced Practitioner role are managed directly by each organisation.
