Wessex Cancer Alliance Launches Education and Training Academy

Tuesday 1 July 2025, sees the launch of the Wessex Cancer Academy, our online platform dedicated to providing information about education, training and development opportunities that can be accessed locally, regionally and nationally.

Workforce education and training is integral to achieving the themes outlined in the NHS Long Term Workforce Plan (2023). Wessex Cancer Academy aims to ensure that healthcare professionals have as many opportunities as possible; to access the education or training they need to support and improve patient experiences, and to contribute to the ongoing development of their knowledge and skillset.

The Wessex Cancer Academy includes information on:

  • Support with the ACCEND framework and capabilities
  • Development opportunities for the workforce
  • Careers options for everyone in cancer care
  • Events Calendar with all the upcoming courses, conferences and training opportunities.

We welcome you to have a look around the website, familiarise yourself with the pages and share any feedback or suggested content that would help improve your experience of the Academy.

“One of the greatest assets the NHS enjoys is the people working within it – nurturing and developing such a workforce must be one of our highest priorities if we are to succeed in delivering our aims. Without the right people doing the right things, we may not succeed.”

Matt Hayes – Medical Director Wessex Cancer Alliance (Extract from the Cancer Workforce Strategy).
