Understanding Bowel Cancer webinar for ICS workforce

The HIOW ICS Race Equality workstream would like to invite colleagues to attend a dedicated webinar on Bowel Cancer Awareness.

As part of the workstream’s objectives, the aim of this webinar is to improve awareness of bowel cancer among workforce colleagues who are from Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic communities so you are equipped with the facts and can help share this information with your friends, family and loved ones.

Bowel cancer is the fourth most common cancer in the UK, with almost 43,000 people diagnosed every year. It’s also the second most common cause of cancer death in the UK accounting for over 7,500 deaths each year.

But it doesn’t have to be this way; bowel cancer is treatable and curable, especially if diagnosed early. Nearly everyone survives bowel cancer if diagnosed at the earliest stage. Early diagnosis really does save lives.

A recent survey showed that four in ten people in the UK can’t name a single symptom of bowel cancer.

Wessex Cancer Alliance has joined forces with Bowel Cancer UK to offer all NHS and ICS partner organisation employees working in Hampshire and the Isle of Wight a free webinar to find out more about the signs and symptoms of bowel cancer, and the steps you can take to reduce your risk and support others to reduce theirs too.

The webinar will consist of a short presentation, delivered by a volunteer from Bowel Cancer UK and a Q&A.

Please register online and share details with your colleagues.
