Wessex Cancer Alliance has developed a toolkit of resources to support Wessex PCNs and GP practices to provide high quality care for people living with or at risk of cancer.
The toolkit brings together local and national information, best practice guidance, helpful tools and links to further resources and training, in areas including:
- Prevention and symptom awareness
- Increasing screening uptake
- Referral guidance and safety netting
- Cancer care reviews and supporting people after a cancer diagnosis
- GP Contract Requirements
“We wanted to develop a really useful resource to support primary care in all the work they do in cancer,” says Sarnia Ward, WCA Primary Care Lead (Dorset).
“Primary care has been asked to really focus on actions they can take to improve cancer early detection, as well as supporting those living with cancer, through the cancer care reviews.”
“We hope the primary care toolkit will become a ‘one stop shop’ for all those working in primary care, to access the information and resources they may need to support their patients.”
You can view the toolkit here: wessexcanceralliance.nhs.uk/primarycaretoolkit
The toolkit will be reviewed on a regular basis to ensure it is kept up to date, and we will continue to develop and add new content. We welcome feedback from primary care teams, please get in touch on wessexcanceralliance@wca.uhs.nhs.uk
