Integrating cancer into neighbourhood health

Report front cover

Wessex Cancer Alliance is committed to transforming cancer care by embedding appropriate services within local communities, creating a model that is local, person-centred, and equitable. The NHS Neighbourhood Health Framework identifies cancer as a distinct priority area within Integrated Neighbourhood Teams, placing it alongside other key long-term conditions such as cardiovascular disease, diabetes, COPD and dementia, and emphasising the importance of proactive, community-based care for these high-need population groups.

In this document we articulate a vision for a model of cancer care that is:

  1. Clinically robust and community-based;
  2. Aligned across all parts of the system; and
  3. Meaningfully shaped by the people and communities it serves
