We are committed to ensuring that every person affected by cancer across Wessex receives culturally appropriate, integrated personalised care. This care journey begins at the point of screening and continues through diagnosis, treatment, and beyond—whether that be post-treatment recovery or palliative, best supportive, and end-of-life care.
It is essential that services are designed and delivered in ways that actively promote equality and eliminate discrimination. The Equality Health Impact Assessment (EHIA) is a vital tool in this process. It enables project and programme managers, as well as service planners and providers, to demonstrate due regard for equality legislation by identifying potential impacts on different population groups and ensuring that opportunities to advance equality are embedded throughout service development.
This document is designed to support you in planning and conducting your own EHIA for personalised care initiatives. It provides guidance, prompts, and examples to help you consider how your service can be inclusive, equitable, and responsive to the diverse needs of the people it serves.
