Monday 16, March 2026 is National Cancer Clinical Nurse Specialist Day.
Why National Cancer CNS Day Matters
Now in its’ fifth year, Cancer CNS Day is a social media awareness day that has been developed to highlight and celebrate the hugely important role that the cancer nursing workforce provides in support of patients and UK-wide health systems on a daily basis.
With demand for cancer services continuing to rise, the need for Cancer Clinical Nurse Specialists has never been greater. CNSs play a vital role across the entire cancer pathway; delivering expert clinical care, coordinating treatment, supporting families, and helping patients navigate complex health systems.
Jane Winter has the following message for CNSs across Wessex for National CNS Day:

National Cancer CNS Day serves as:
- A powerful awareness-raising moment
- A platform to highlight workforce sustainability
- An opportunity to attract nurses into specialist cancer roles
- A celebration of the extraordinary contribution of cancer nursing professionals
National Cancer CNS Day is primarily a social media awareness campaign, and everyone is encouraged to take part.
Happy CNS Day from our Acute Trusts across Wessex!
