Local cancer support groups and charities play a vital role in supporting patients and care-givers. Peer and community support can be invaluable in enabling people facing a cancer diagnosis, treatment and those living beyond cancer to have more control over their own lives.
Groups and charities face a number of challenges, including increasing numbers of patients and care-givers needing help, financial constraints, and the restructuring of a national cancer charities meaning less local provision. We offer support to these organisations through our Valuing Community Support Network. This includes:
- A quarterly online meeting to share good practice and identify support needs
- Identifying and sharing relevant resources from the wider Voluntary, Community, Faith and Social Enterprise (VCFSE) sector
- Offering opportunities to get involved in improving personalised care initiatives
Quarterly Network Meetings
