Increasing Awareness of Bowel Cancer in Wessex

Wessex Cancer Alliance needs your help to understand and address barriers that stop people seeking help.

Bowel cancer is the fourth most common cancer in the UK, with almost 43,000 people diagnosed every year. It is also the second leading cause of cancer death in the UK accounting for over 7,500 deaths each year.

However, it doesn’t have to be this way; bowel cancer is treatable and curable, especially if diagnosed early. Nearly everyone survives bowel cancer if diagnosed at the earliest stage. Early diagnosis really does save lives.

Wessex Cancer Alliance is keen to understand what prevents people from seeking help for their bowel cancer symptoms, or from completing the bowel cancer screening test when they receive it.

We would be really grateful if you could spare a few minutes to complete a short survey and tell us your thoughts:

Complete the survey here.

Or scan the QR code opposite.

If you would prefer to share your views directly, via email, virtual meeting or phone call please contact Emily Bowman, Early Diagnosis Project Manager.

We are also planning to run some focus groups later in the year to look at how we might increase bowel cancer symptom awareness and participation in screening. If this is something you would be interested in participating in please contact us on the details above.
