Talking About Cancer: Reducing Risk, Early Detection and Mythbusting

Provides tips, tools and confidence to have meaningful conversations about cancer. Raises awareness of key facts and health messages about cancer prevention, screening and early diagnosis. Gain the ability to deal with barriers and challenges you may face when having cancer conversations. Know how to direct people to the right place for advice and support and encourage practical action.

Cancer Prevention

Learn how lifestyle affects cancer risk and receive useful and practical tips for cancer prevention, based on the latest scientific evidence. Gain confidence in talking about cancer prevention to patients and clients using approved behaviour change techniques. Debunk common cancer myths. Help people to live well during cancer.

Breast Cancer Primary Prevention Education

You will learn strategies for lifestyle interventions for the prevention of breast cancer as well as being able to identify which drugs are used in the prevention of breast cancer for pre- and postmenopausal women. Understand the NICE guidelines for eligibility to receive treatment and the anticipated risk reduction with each drug as well as being able to describe the principle side-effects of each of these drugs.

Behaviour Change and cancer prevention

This module is aimed at healthcare professionals who would like to promote behaviour change in their patients to reduce their cancer risk. The module will highlight the links between cancer and smoking, obesity and alcohol and describe the evidence for Very Brief Advice (VBA) on behaviour change.
