Prehabilitation and rehabilitation provide support to people with cancer to:

  • prepare for cancer treatment
  • maximise the outcomes of treatment
  • minimise the consequences of disease
  • minimise the side effects of treatment and disease (e.g. fatigue, breathlessness)
  • address practical problems caused by disease and treatment
  • be as independent as possible

This is achieved by optimising the nutritional, physical and psychosocial health of people with cancer, using a personalised care approach i.e. based on a persons needs and what matters to the individual. Prehabilitation is a continuum to rehabilitation.
