Cancer care and screening for people with a learning disability in primary care
People with a learning disability face significant disparities in cancer care. They are twice as likely to be diagnosed at a late stage, often in emergency settings, and have lower screening attendance, leading to poorer outcomes. Cancer risk in this group also differs from the general population and varies within it. As primary care professionals, we can play a vital role in closing this gap. In this module, we’ll look at how we can best support people with a learning disability to access cancer care and screening.
