SUMMARY:Systemic Anti-Cancer Therapy (SACT) Nurse Training
DESCRIPTION:Date: Thursday 9th July 2026 \nVenue: Bournemouth Carlton Hotel\, Signature Collection by Best Western\, E Overcliff Drive\, Bournemouth BH1 3DN \nFormat: Face to face or Virtual study Day (up to 8 hours taught) and up to 50 hours personal study to complete the passport. Clinically supervised time for SACT administration and assessment in practice \nDescription: Systemic Anti-Cancer Therapy (SACT) treatments can be complex and put patients at risk of significant and potentially fatal toxicities. There are also risks to those who handle SACT from occupational exposure if control measures are inadequate (HSE 2017). It is essential that staff are trained and assessed as competent to safely administer SACT (HSE 2017). The course is led by experienced trained facilitators and involves the use of actors in scenarios. Content includes: \n\nbreaking bad news\nshared decision making\ntransition to palliative care\n\nYou will need to have an enhanced level of communications skills training prior to applying for this course. \nAudience: This course is aimed at experienced cancer clinical nurse specialists (band 6 and above) to enhance their communication skills in more challenging scenarios.
