SUMMARY:Systemic Anti-Cancer Therapy (SACT) Nurse Training
DESCRIPTION:Format: Face to face or Virtual study Day (up to 8 hours taught) and up to 50 hours personal study to complete the passport. Clinically supervised time for SACT administration and assessment in practice \nDescription: Systemic Anti-Cancer Therapy (SACT) treatments can be complex and put patients at risk of significant and potentially fatal toxicities. There are also risks to those who handle SACT from occupational exposure if control measures are inadequate (HSE 2017). Supporting patients and their carers during SACT is as important as safe drug delivery. \nCore knowledge components to be covered on the training: \n\nWhat is cancer?\nHow SACT drugs work\nRoutes of administration\nPatient assessment\nToxicities of SACT\nSafe handling & administration\nLegal & professional issues\nProphylactic/supportive/rescue interventions\nThe psychosocial impact of SACT treatment\nPatient education and self-care advice\nAdvancing SACT Practice – next steps?\n\nLink: WCA SACT Nurse Training Registration Form – 18th September 2025
